I like what you've got here. The background colors and textures are very evocative - dreamlike.
Can you composite the ogre onto the sand? I think we need to add some warmer tone to the beach, while keeping the nighttime atmosphere, along with some sand speckle/texture, in order to marry the background more to its daytime counterpart. For a quick view, you can adjust the ogre's color using levels or curves to get an initial impression.
