The Ogre & the Mermaid
The idea for this piece first surfaced around 2006. It is the story of an ogre who is pushed onto a beach and who encounters a mermaid. Caught between fear of the unknown and his attraction to her, he must come to a decision about whether to follow her into the deep.
Loosely inspired by the Shakespearean quote:
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.
Also based on the saying:
All is lost to he who hesitates.
"The Ogre and the Mermaid" is hand-drawn on paper and digitally colored and composited, in keeping with the desire to preserve an authentically organic line while taking advantage of contemporary software.

Motion Heads is an animation studio located in the exotic center of the urban wilds of Philadelphia. We are currently in production on "The Ogre and the Mermaid," a film by Big Head Christopher Magee. Our goal is to create personal films that attract works for hire to feed our personal films. Our path to happiness.
We also aim to create an animation hub in Philadelphia, eventually offering workshops, screenings, and other events for animators, artists, and even other people.
Vegetable gardening also comprises an important element in our vision of the world.
We set our sights on creating eclectic, original work beholden to no one but ourselves. This being said, we do like to play with others, and so if you think you'd like us to do something for you, please send us a message.
Our credo:
"Art is the most necessary unnecessary thing."
...because without dreams, we would go crazy.
