one mighty fine jacket
...and here Janelle models the mighty fine ScanTec jacket - purchased in Denmark at a Salvation Army store on the island of Aero, fit for a viking airplane repairman and obviously bursting with style and hipness.
unfortunately, I wasn't able to pawn it off on her : ) , but hey, it's still available, so let me know...

timing for animation
"Timing for Animation," by Harold Whitaker and John Halas. the link is a blog post from New York animator Michael Sporn.
this is my favorite animation instructional book, even more than Richard Williams' seminal "Animator's Survival Kit," because it is smaller, more concise, and lets you take off from where it ends without getting involved in semantics.
and here's an article on the artist by John Halas of the Halas and Batchelor Studio in England.

pile of drawings to capture
may not be exciting to look at in this form, but just wait until later today, when they're in the magic computer box thingie...

it's a long way to tipperary...
based on our actual rate of progress:
"very slow" calcuation:
keys (2 shots/week)
10 shots left = 5 weeks
in-betweens (2 shots/week)
32 shots left = 16 weeks
coloring (2 shots/week)
122 shots left = 61 weeks
backgrounds (2 shots/week)
118 shots left = 59 weeks
= finish the film by end of summer '14
----------------------------------------
"moderate speed" calculation:
keys (4 shots/week)
10 shots left = 3 weeks (01sep13)
in-betweens (4 shots/week)
32 shots left = 8 weeks (15oct13)
coloring (4 shots/week)
122 shots left = 30 weeks (01mar14)
backgrounds (8 shots/week)
118 shots left = 15 weeks (01dec13)
= finish the film by march '14
*if we want to finish the film by december '13, then we need to do a lot better than this, even.
for tomorrow:
• chris, janelle: keys and in-betweens
• eric, ellen: backgrounds
goal is to finish off animation and backgrounds by mid-october so we can all focus on coloring.
